i know i never update anymore. for a while it was because my computer was broken, and then i realized that i’ve been making myself quite busy. i can’t believe this picture was taken a month and a half ago. i’d like to go back.
what do you want to know?
i’ve been working really hard. since coming back from vacation, caroline & i have shifted my direction in the company. we want to make money from products & web services, and i like doing it, so we’ve worked out a system so i can focus nearly full time on that. i’m very happy about that. work can still be stressful, but it’s most often not, and i’m even really pleased with what i’ve been doing. always overzealous in my ambitions, i’ve got like 3 or 4 large projects that i’m working on, while realizing that i can only work on one thing at a time. but i’ve been growing more productive, and more proud of what i’m doing. and though it’s hard to express, i’m glad caroline & i are a team.
things have been going really well with dana. we want the same things. we’re both nuts. the future is a scary blur, but i feel good imagining her there. we came up with dreamlines recently, to figure out exactly the things we’ve always wanted to do and have and be, and one of the things that appeared on both of ours, independently, was to have a sailboat and learn to sail. so about a week ago, i found a craigslist ad, we went to check it out, and now we have a sailboat. a small one, mind you. it’s a 1959 snipe dinghy, just big enough for two people. it’s got a dark wooden top that needs refinishing, and a greecian bright blue hull. it’s about 15 ft. long, with an insanely tall mast. and it was super cheap, but that’s gonna help this summer be really awesome. we’re gonna fix it up and we’re gonna teach ourselves to sail. already i’ve been forced to spend a few days doing manual labor, and it’s such a fulfilling change from my usual days. clearing out brush to make a home in my woods, repairing a flat tire on the trailer. i get a chance to stretch my muscles, and to be resourceful. i can’t wait till a really nice warm day comes along and we start sanding the finish. no – i can’t wait until a nice warm day comes along so we can get it in the water.
and tomorrow’s my birthday. i’ve got a history of despising my birthday, but i think this one will be okay. i took the day off work (though that’s easier for me to say than to do), and dana’s gonna come make me breakfast in the morning. the rest of the day, i have no idea, but i’d like to do something out of the ordinary. something that gets me back to basics, where i want to be, and not worrying about computers or servers or code. i think this one’ll be okay. i can’t believe i’m turning twenty-four. i better start accomplishing something soon.
there. i updated.
